Since 2008, IDEAS Show has been Taiwan biggest startup tech conference attended by venture capitalists, investors, media, web-related industry players, IT firms, and academia. It is an annual first launch pad event dedicated to Taiwanese web startups before they move on to the international stage, although in recent years, they have opened themselves up to international teams.
Its past distinguished alumni include atlaspost (acquired by Groupon in 2011), Vpon (over 200 million users in the Greater China market), Accuvally (invested by DCM and Qualcomm Ventures; accepted into Microsoft Ventures Accelerators), Armorize (acquired by Proofpoints in 2013), Whoscall (acquired by NAVER in 2013), Fevolution, EZTABLE (invested by Rose Park Advisors), Chocolabs (invested by Appworks Ventures), iPeen (invested by CyberAgent Ventures), Richi, Hiir (acquired by FarEasTone Telecommunication in 2013), Cubie (invested by B Dash Ventures, NTT Investment Partners, and Gumi Ventures; accepted into 500 Startups), Wawabank, Wondershow, and Adlocus, to name a few. If you wish to see a more comprehensive alumni list, click here.
The conference will be interspersed with several keynote speeches by industry leaders, leading investors and business mentors who will discuss the next big trends in the O2O business.
During the IDEAS Show itself, each startup team selected to present is given 6 minutes to pitch theirs products/services on stage. It is not only an opportunity to get the team noticed by the attending investors, but also a great way to market the products/services through the regional media in attendance. Last year, 36 teams went on stage, including 6 international teams.
If you don’t wish to pitch on stage, then there is the IDEAS Expo, also a chance for startups to showcase their products/services to potential users, investors and future team members, not to mention a chance to meet other like-minded startups in the region and exchange ideas with them. The 2013 IDEAS Expo showcased 60+ startups.
Other key activities taking place during the 2-day conference include Industry Salon, which serves as a matchmaking platform between startups and companies from the industries such as telecommunication, travel, mass media, and catering.
So don’t miss out! See you in Taiwan!
